Making space for wildlife

Work to enhance Salcombe’s Hangar Marsh nature reserve has been completed, with part of the site now reopened to the public. This is part of our ongoing commitment to address biodiversity loss across the District.

Excitement Building for New Kingsbridge Skatepark

The creation of Kingsbridge's brand-new skatepark will start on Monday 18 September. South Hams District Council, Kingsbridge Skatepark Community Group and Kingsbridge Town Council are delighted to confirm the good news.

We have welcomed the first tenants to our new commercial premises 'Schooner Court' at Batson Creek in Salcombe. As part of our ambitions to help support and sustain the local marine economy, we have invested £1.28 million in the development of five new commercial units.

All aboard a clean marine strategy in the South Hams

We are working with partners and industry experts to explore how we can use electric power on our waters to help tackle climate change. In our drive to reduce our local carbon footprint, we are working with the local marine sector to identify opportunities which protect the natural environment.

Council Prioritising climate and biodiversity action

Climate change and biodiversity issues are high on the agenda for the new administration at South Hams District Council, with a pledge of £40,000 to support the work of Sustainable South Hams and the formation of a new council advisory panel for climate matters.

New online service to help tenants

A new simplified online reporting system will support residents complaining about delays in resolving problems, helping you to take action if your property suffers from damp, mould or disrepair.
