Sustainable drainage solutions need to follow the drainage hierarchy and use infiltration as the first choice. This step will help identify the options available and if any testing or permissions are needed. Such as:
- Will soakaways work?
- Is there space?
- Is there a watercourse or sewer available?
- What are the discharge options?
Please note that if the tool identifies that soakaway testing is needed then this must be carried out, a failed test result will have to be shown for justification for connecting to a watercourse or sewer.
