Privacy Notice - Community Composting Scheme

South Hams District Council takes your privacy seriously.

We will use your information in order to process your application form for funding to support your Community Composting Scheme. This notice sets out what we will do with your personal information and who we may share it with in respect of the above.


What information about you do we collect?

We collect the following information:

  • Name,
  • address,
  • full details about the community composting scheme and site location,
  • health and safety documents,
  • exception permits from Environment Agency; and
  • bank details to verify where the funding if awarded will be paid into

Relevant personal data will be collected from the application form for the funding support for the community composting scheme.


How will your personal data be used?

Your personal data will be used to assess the criteria has been met to award funding for this group.

Consent to process this data for the community composting funding.


Who will your personal data be shared with?

South Hams District Council may share personal data with other departments within the Council and external organisations in the following circumstances:

  • For law enforcement, criminal prosecutions and Court proceedings 
  • If we need to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights, including the prevention and detection of fraud or protecting public interests 
  • Where the department or organisation has a lawful right to the data, such as where an Act of Parliament enables access to it

The personal information you provide will not be used for any other purpose unless required by law, to prevent or detect crime or to protect public funds".

We will never sell your data to anyone else.


Transferring of data outside the EU

Your data will not be transferred outside the EU. It will be securely stored electronically within the UK only, unless disclosure was necessary for safeguarding or for the prevention and detection of crime.


Length of time we keep your information

We keep your personal information for a finite period of years based on the Council's retention policy.
