Care Leavers
From 1 October 2023, if you are a Devon care leaver paying council tax, we may be able to reduce the amount you pay.
The Council provides a local discount for its care leavers to reduce their council tax bill until they reach their 25th birthday.
You still need to apply for any other reduction you may be entitled to such as:
- Single person discount
- Council tax reduction
We will automatically award you a top-up discount until your 25th birthday only when we have received confirmation from Devon County Council that you meet the scheme criteria. You can read the full details of the scheme here.
The discount only applies to Devon County Council care leavers living in the South Hams district who are named on the council tax bill.
