Trussell Trust Foodbanks

The Trussell Trust is a nationwide network of foodbanks. They operate the following Foodbanks in South Hams and West Devon:

  • Stepping Stones Totnes CiC Foodbank - Email Kit Stevens, call 07988 639514 or visit their Facebook page for more information
  • Kingsbridge Foodbank provide food, hygiene and household products in Kingsbridge and the surrounding villages. They also provide other services, assistance and support for those in need.
  • Kingswear Community Pantry - help yourself from the porch of the Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, Church Hill, Kingswear. Available Sundays 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Wednesdays from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
  • Dartmouth & District Foodbank is open every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Townstal Community Hall in Davis Road, TQ6 9LJ.  Kingswear Community Pantry is also available on Sundays 10 a.m. - 12 noon and Wednesdays 12 noon - 3 p.m. - as well as their website, visit the Dartmouth and District Foodbank Facebook page for more information.
  • Food in Community is based in Dartington and covers Totnes. They can provide fresh fruit & veg. They may also be able to offer a £10 supermarket voucher in some cases.
  • Okehampton Foodbank - call them on 07483 877 378 on Fridays, or email contact@okehamptonfoodbank.co.uk
  • Bere Alston and Yelverton Foodbank - this service also provides a school uniform bank for parents who need new and good quality used school uniform items free of charge. Email bpfb20@gmail.com or call 07927 220209
  • Tavistock Food Hub - operates every Wednesday at Kings Community Church, Pixon Lane, Tavistock from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Email Tavistock Food Hub
  • Princetown Food Hub - runs every wednesday at the Methodist chapel from 11 a.m. to noon. Contact 07880 870 239 or visit the Princetown Food Hub Facebook page. You can also email Princetown Food Hub.
  • Horrabridge Food Hub and Social Supermarket - runs every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Horrabridge Youth Club. Email Horrabridge Food Hub.
  • Sherford (near Plymouth) Food Hub is available at Sherford Community Hub every Thursday 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Email Sherford Food Hub.
  • Please note the Food Hubs at Sherford, Horrabridge, Tavistock and Princetown make a small charge (£5) for a bag of food.
  • Okehampton Community Kitchen - 3 East Street, Okehampton. Telephone Rebecca on 07806 770926.
  • Buckland Cares Food Bank - runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Buckland Chapel. You can email bucklandcares@outlook.com, or visit the Buckland Cares Facebook Page.
  • Red and Black Club - at Crowndale road in Tavistock on Saturdays 11 a.m. to noon. They provide a box of food; will deliver if needed. There is a small charge, but they can provide for free if needed. You can email graham.parker@dcfa.org.uk or call 07545 075942.
  • Buckland Chapel Food Hub - runs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10 a.m. to 11 a.m in Yelverton. This service provides a selection of food essentials. Email bucklandchapeltrust@gmail.com or call 01822 853078.
  • Chagford Eco-pantry and Foodbank - operating at back of St.Michael the Archangel Church and in reception area of the Primary School. Email Rev. Paul Seaton-Burn at whiddonparishes@hotmail.com.
  • North Tawton Merry Go Round Shop Community Fridge and Larder - open to all Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Holy Trinity Salcombe - Church Street, Salcombe. Available to all 7 days a week, 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Email seasideparish@gmail.com.  
  • There are a number of supermarkets, cafés and restaurants offering free or £1 meals for children during the school holidaysThis list at Money Saving Central has a list of the most up-to-date offers.

Help with Pet Food and Vet Bills

The RSPCA have produced an interactive map where you can find Pet Food Banks local to you.

There is also help and support for people who are struggling to meet the costs of vet bills, including where you can access affordable medication and vet care for your pet.
