Primary Authority Partnerships

Find out about our Primary Authority Partnership service here.

A Primary Authority partnership is when a business forms a statutory partnership with a single local authority regulator. The Authority becomes their primary contact for regulatory compliance across the country.

Once a Primary Authority has been formally adopted, local authorities can contact the Primary Authority rather than your business. This will reduce the number of requests you receive from other regulators.

Saving Costs

Rather than spending time and money developing and implementing different compliance plans across different authorities, a Primary Authority Partnership allows you to have one plan. Everyone can follow this plan, wherever they are in the UK.

Cut Red Tape

Advice given by your Primary Authority must be respected by all local regulators.

Working in Partnership

We are working in partnership with Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards to provide a wide range of services and support for Primary Authority Agreements such as

  • Food Safety
  • Health and Safety
  • Trading Standards (labelling / weights and measures)
  • Sampling

Trading Standards form the agreement and would have dedicated officers that would receive all enquiries and filter the topic area to the appropriate specialist.  We would then contact you to discuss and assist with the query.
