South Hams District Council is holding a series of drop in sessions around the district for those who would like a little extra help using their online services.

The Council has had online services for Council Tax and Housing Benefit for some years now, and is keen to encourage people to use all of the self-serve options that are available to them.

As new Council Tax bills start to arrive, this is the perfect time to show residents just how useful the service can be.

Cllr Simon Wright, Executive Member for Customer First at South Hams District Council:  "From next week our residents will start to receive their Council Tax bills in the post.  We really would encourage everyone to use our online Council Tax system to manage their bill.  Once you have logged in you will find a list of frequently asked questions personalised with your information, such as your next payment, how much you owe and so on. You can see your payment history and apply for discounts and benefits.

"We know that not everyone is comfortable using these online systems, so we are providing these drop in sessions for anyone who would like to see how it works and get help logging on.

"So if you know someone who might benefit for a bit of support from our officers with the online system please do encourage them to come along, and we will help them get set up on their own mobile phone, tablet or laptop."

Council Officers will be available in various locations on the days and times listed below. They can show you how to register, view your bill, manage your details and set up a direct debit.

Customers will need to bring along their mobile phone, tablet or laptop, and their council tax account number, which they can find on their bill.
