A series of extensive works, including a new entrance, café, and poolside viewing area, are just some of the exciting changes Dartmouth Leisure Centre members can look forward to.
Having commenced in September 2017, the works will significantly improve and modernise the local sports and leisure facility. One of the biggest improvements currently taking place at the centre is a new extension which links the main entrance to Dartmouth Indoor Pool, along with a refurbished reception area, making it significantly easier for members to navigate throughout the facility.
Significant improvements are also being made to Dartmouth Indoor Pool, with the creation of a new 35m2 viewing area with poolside seating. Marking a major commitment from Fusion Lifestyle in improving the experience for Dartmouth Leisure Centre members, all refurbishment works are expected to be complete and open to the public by December 2017.
The works form part of a multi‐million‐pound investment from Fusion Lifestyle, South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council in improving five Devon Leisure Centres. Along with Dartmouth Leisure Centre, and as part of a three‐year programme, other locations set to benefit from significant improvements include; Meadowlands Leisure Centre (Tavistock), Ivybridge Leisure Centre, Quayside Leisure Centre and Parklands Leisure Centre (Okehampton).
Fusion Lifestyle is the largest independent charity operating community sports, fitness and leisure centres in the country, and is known for bringing quality and investment to the facilities it operates. As it is a charity, all its incoming resources are reinvested in improving and developing its services and facilities.
Rob Taylor, Divisional Business Manager, Fusion Lifestyle said: "We have made a serious investment in the improvement and upkeep of Dartmouth Leisure Centre, enhancing the experience for our members and the public. The improvement works at the centre are progressing well, and we would like to thank members for their patience while these take place.
"As just one of the centres set to benefit from significant investment, it is our goal to ensure that our members and the local communities across Devon have access to high quality sports and leisure facilities. As an independent charity, we invest heavily in creating, restoring and transforming much loved local centres, and we look forward to delivering bigger and better facilities which can be enjoyed for years to come."
Cllr Hilary Bastone, Executive Portfolio Holder for Customer First at South Hams District Council, said: "I'm delighted to see work get underway at Dartmouth Leisure Centre, and pleased to see that it's expected to be completed quickly. Our leisure centre is a major asset for Dartmouth and the wider community, and it is fantastic to see these improvements transforming it into the facility our residents deserve".
