Markets in the South Hams

Pitches are only allocated based on availability at each market. Pitches are subject to terms and conditions, which are available to traders once a pitch is granted.

Market stalls are subject to the payment of rent depending on the size of the pitch and are collected by the Inspector on the morning of trading.  All goods and produce sold are subject to the Inspectors approval and the Council reserves the right to refuse traders if deemed necessary.

Stall pitches are controlled by the Market Inspector.  

All stallholders are required to provide their own stall and must have public liability insurance. 

Please note that most pitches are not undercover.

Where are the Markets?

Totnes Pannier Market operates on every Friday and Saturday on the Market Square and also occupies the Civic Hall car park.  There has been a market here in Totnes for hundreds of years.

Today it is a flourishing busy market selling food, clothes, plants, bric-a-brac, antiques, furniture, jewellery and tools.

Sunday Food and Craft Market is held every third Sunday of the month in the Civic Hall Square, Totnes.

Kingsbridge market operates from the Square at Quay Car Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays all year round.

Ivybridge market operates from Glanvilles Mill Car Park every Thursday.

How can I get a pitch on a market?

Traders wishing to attend the markets may book a pitch by emailing southhams.markets@swdevon.gov.uk. There is no guarantee of a spot if you book ahead. You will be notified if there is a space available, and this notification may be at short notice.

Charges/Stall/Pitch Hire  

Frontage per metre (the area which faces the public) £7.47 

Minimum Charge £15.00 (2 metre stall)            

Stalls are categorised as Standard, Medium, Large and Outsize

• Standard - being up to 2 metre frontage
• Medium - being between 2.13 metres and 3 metre frontage
• Large - being between 3.35 and 6.4 metre frontage  
• Outsize stall - of unusual shape and size and anything over 6.4 metre footage.

All charges are reviewed annually in line with Council policy.
