Ward Councillor for West Dart - Leader of the Council

Cllr R J Tucker

I have been elected as the ward councillor for West Dart (villages of Ashprington, Blackawton, Cornworthy and Dittisham) since March 1997.  I was elected to Dittisham Parish Council in 1991 and was Chairman for the first ten years.

I have lived in Dittisham all my life and I am married to Doreen and have two sons, Sean and Iain.

My background is in farming and I am still active on the farm although my two sons manage it overall.

From 1982 to 1997 I gained a position of a Tax Commissioner for the Totnes area and I was a school governor at Blackawton Primary School from 1979 to 1982.  I was also Chair of the Dart Valley Milk Group in the late nineties. The purpose of the Milk Group was to enhance the milk price in which we were successful in the early years of the Group.

I am interested in sports, especially rugby, football and cricket, as well as politics and social media such as Twitter and Linkedin.

I consider the South Hams, with its rolling hills and stunning coastline, the best place to live in all of Britain.
