Local Authorities are required to hold a register which will allow people to register their interest in Self or Custom Build projects.
By completing this application you are registering your interest only.
This does not mean that there is land available for projects, but it does provide us with valuable information about the number and location of required plots.
Please complete the Register an Interest in Self Build form in as much detail as possible and supply any requested information.
Self Build and Custom Build are often understood to mean the same thing.
However, the main difference in the terminology is whether you are paying other people for their expertise to complete and oversee the project and are building this to your own specification and requirements. These are known as custom builds.
If you are intending to carry out the bulk of the work yourself but using expertise for a small element of the work this is known as self-build.
It is also possible that a group of people could get together to complete a self build and/or custom build project.
More information about self builds and custom builds can be found in the Right to Build Toolkit.
