Where you pay business rates
If you pay business rates on a property because it generates holiday rental income, the rubbish produced is classed as trade waste. Please ensure this is collected by a licensed waste carrier.
You may wish to find out about South Hams District Council's trade waste collection service, information about this service is included within these pages.
Where you pay council tax
If council tax is paid on a property anyone staying there is entitled to use the household waste and recycling collection service. Please sort the waste for recycling and composting and place the waste out for collection as specified.
To help guests to sort their waste, we can provide special guides to be displayed in holiday homes. Just contact us to request one.
If you are unable to leave the waste and recycling out on the designated collection day, it can be taken to Torr Quarry Recycling Centre. An unlimited number of recycling sacks can be taken, but non-recyclable waste is strictly limited to six bags per property per year.
