Planning and Contaminated Land

Planning and Contaminated Land

From April 2008, all planning applications must use the new national 1App planning application form. The issue of contaminated or potentially contaminated land is covered in a question on Existing Use within the 1APP forms.

A [Adobe Acrobat Document -- will open in new browser window] guidance note for developments on land which is potentially contaminated or where the proposed end use is sensitive is available. The guidance note is sourced from work carried out by the Suffolk Environmental Protection Group.

[Adobe Acrobat Document -- will open in new browser window] (Advice Note 2) is a guidance note for landowners, developers, agents and consultants to encourage a consistent approach in investigating, assessing and remediating land contamination. It gives clear details as to what South Hams District Council requires from a Phase 1 report, Phase 2 Site Investigation, Phase 3 Remediation Statement and Phase 4 Verification Report.
