The Council has produced a range of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) dealing in detail with specific sites or topics alongside Local Development Framework and the preceding Local Plan. SPD and SPG is intended to provide detailed guidance and advice to developers, landowners and others on the implementation of the Council’s development plan policies.
SPD and SPG is taken into account as a material planning consideration when applications are being considered. They may contain policies which expand or supplement the policies in the Development Plan and may cover a range of thematic and site specific issues.
The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act has replaced SPG with SPD. Existing SPGs will be saved until they are replaced by SPDs.
