Code of Conduct

  • Please observe the Harbour Byelaws relating to excessive speed and wash of craft.

  • Please consider carefully what you discharge into the estuary, an oil absorbing sponge in the bilge is highly recommended. Be especially careful when refuelling and don't be tempted to overfill the tanks. Consider using bio-degradable detergents.

  • Please return any marine animals collected by children to the estuary, preferably in the same place. Please ensure any overturned rocks are replaced carefully as under-rock communities may have taken years to form.

  • Please don't throw dead or even empty shellfish overboard, especially those from abroad. Some of our pest and alien species may have arrived here in this way.

  • Please do not attempt to land on the Saltstone Rock, as nationally rare species of red seaweed and burrowing worms live in this special but very vulnerable habitat.

  • Litter can kill or injure wildlife. Please dispose of your refuse responsibly and recycle everything that you can.

  • Please help us to conserve this very special habitat.
