The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 requires all local planning
authorities to prepare a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). This sets out when and how we involve
our communities in preparing development plans and processing planning applications.
The Statement of Community Involvement has been prepared jointly by
South Hams District and West Devon Borough Councils.
It was formally adopted by South Hams District Council on 29th March
2012 and by West Devon Borough Council on 17th April 2012.

Consultation
The Statement of Community Involvement was prepared in consultation with the community
to find out their views about how they want to be involved in planning in the future. Feedback was gathered
in early 2011 through a series of workshops and a questionnaire. In November 2011, a draft SCI was published
for a formal six week consultation. Summaries of these consultations are provided in the documents below:

Where can I view the documents?
Paper copies of the adopted Statement of Community Involvement, the Adoption Statement
