South Hams District Council work in partnership with the Residential Landlords Association to provide information and advice to private sector landlords and prospective landlords. A Landlords Forum is held twice yearly and a newsletter is also circulated to all landlords.

In such a high house price area as the South Hams having a good stock of private rented accommodation is essential. It is hoped that providing an information and advice forum for landlords will encourage landlords to stay within the sector and may also encourage prospective landlords to buy property locally.

The Council has also run a private sector lease scheme for over 10 years, where the management role of a property is taken on by the Council in return for a minimum lease period from the landlord.
