The Key Worker Scheme is funded by the Government and helps key workers buy a property on the open market close to their place of work, which they would otherwise be unable to afford. The housing association provides a 25% equity loan and the rest of the cost would be funded through a mortgage. You would not be asked to pay monthly payments or interest on the loan, you repay the loan when you sell the property based on the market value of the property at that time.
The scheme is administered by Devon and Cornwall Housing Association and is for people who work for Devon County Council, the Health Authority or South Hams District Council. You need to apply to be on the Council's Housing Register to be nominated to this scheme.
