In most cases it is expected that Devon Care and Repair South Hams Team will help you with an application for Relocation Assistance; this is because only people registered as disabled will be eligible. A referral from an Occupational Therapist who has knowledge of your needs, will also be required.

Each application will be considered on its merits and will be subject to the overriding principle that the Assistance is considered to be the best use of public funds.

Relocation Assistance will be in the form of a grant and will provide up to £10,000 to reimburse the reasonable cost of legal fees, removals, agents fees etc. and include a lump sum of £1000 towards new floor coverings and curtains.

An adult applicant will be required to undergo the test of resources (in line with current legislation for Disabled Facilities Grants). Any assessed contribution will be deducted from the Relocation Assistance except in cases where the new property requires some further adaptation under a Disabled Facilities Grant. In those cases the Relocation Assistance will be paid, but the Disabled Facilities Grant will be reduced by the assessed contribution.

A successful applicant will not be entitled to more than one Relocation Assistance.
