The Independent Futures Care and Repair Agency provides a free advisory service for older and disabled home owners and private tenants in the South Hams who need to adapt their home so that they can continue to live independently. The Agency can help in many ways, including submitting grant applications and other documentation, checking benefit entitlement and finding alternative funding options, giving technical advice, finding reliable builders and overseeing work.

A handyperson scheme operated by the agency is aimed at reducing both accidents in the home and the fear of crime. Free home safety checks are included and a whole range of small jobs can be carried out for an hourly rate labour charge.
