Unpleasant odours and smells can arise from different sources. There are various powers which the Environmental Health Service can use to investigate and sort out the problem.
If you wish to make a complaint about unpleasant smells, gases or dust please ring the South Hams District Council with the details of where the problem is coming from. The Council has powers where the odour effects your property.
The sorts of problems which we investigate include
- Odour from manure/muck heaps
- Odour from poorly kept animals
- Odour from industry
- Rubbish smells from accumulated rubbish
- Sewage smells from spreading and treatment plants
- Cooking smells from commercial kitchens
- Dust from construction sites
- Dust from industry
It may be worthwhile speaking directly to the person to see if the problem can be resolved informally. If this does not work or is not an option please contact Environmental Health.
