Household Collection - How it Works

Where ever possible residents of  domestic properties have been issued with wheeled bins and recycling sacks to manage their waste.

Recycling and composting are collected one week and non-recyclable waste the next.

Recycling can be placed in the blue and clear sacks, while food and garden waste should be placed in the brown wheeled bin.

Waste which cannot be recycled or composted should be put in the grey bin, which goes to a landfill site.

If you recycle all you can there should be enough space in your grey bin for all non-recyclable waste.  We do not collect waste that won’t fit in your grey bin.   If you find that there is not enough room in your grey bin, despite recycling as much as possible, please contact us.

If your property cannot accommodate wheeled bins or we can’t access your property with our vehicles, you can use black sacks every week.  It is a good idea to place these in a seagull or animal proof container to prevent littering.  Properties that do not have wheeled bins will receive a fortnightly recycling collection using the blue and clear recycling sacks.

Waste from businesses needs to be managed in a different way to waste from domestic properties and if you run a business, please see our Trade Waste pages.
