Anyone who conducts a business of selling animals as pets at any premises (which could be a private dwelling) requires a licence.
Licence conditions stipulate:
- suitable accommodation
- suitable food and drink
- that mammals will not be sold too young
- that precautions are taken to prevent the spread of infectious diseases
- that appropriate precautions are in place in case of fire or any other emergency
Authorised veterinary surgeons carry out inspections on behalf of this Council
