Amusement machines or amusement with prizes (AWP) machines are more commonly known as fruit machines.  

Licensed premises such as pubs and clubs are no longer licensed by the Magistrates. This responsibilty has been taken over by the District Councils as the new Licensing Authority under the Gambling Act 2005.
