Barking, as well as other dog behavioural problems, can often be solved quite easily by trained dog handlers. You may even have seen this done on a television programme such as ‘It’s me or the Dog’ or ‘Dog Borstal’.
Dog behaviour trainers may offer a variety of forms of consultation. For example, many choose to visit you and your dog at home, others may offer ‘surgery-type’ visits or even telephone consultations. Prices obviously will vary but may be as little as a few tens of pounds. Some pet health insurance policies may even cover the fees for behaviour counselling.
If you, or a dog trainer, feel that your dog needs additional exercise or companionship during the day which you are unable to provide, there are services available which can provide this.
Below is a list of businesses offering dog behavioural training or day care and walks. The list has been taken from the Plymouth and Exeter Yellow Pages or the Internet and does not represent endorsement by the Council. Only the business names and contact details have been reproduced and in many cases the original entries include further information on qualifications etc. Some dog walking/checking services may not be available across all of the South Hams.
