South Hams District Council recognises the importance of having energy efficient homes which save you money, and help keep you warm, well and safe. Also just as importantly help you to reduce your own carbon dioxide emissions which contribute to climate change.
How to save energy and money
There are many ways in which you can reduce your energy consumption and help to tackle climate change. In many homes, the most cost effective ways in which you can do this is to install loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.
30% of heat is lost through the walls and 25% through the roof. Cavity wall insulation can typically save up to £120 on your annual energy bill. By installing loft insulation you could save around £170 a year compared to an uninsulated house.
The Cosy Devon scheme is open to all residents of South Hams. In addition to the Cosy Devon offer, the Council, and its partners, will be providing a range of support through grants and loans to make properties safe and warm. All grants are subject to funding being available.
All homeowners and private tenants are eligible for free or discounted loft and cavity wall insulation in South Hams. Visit the Cosy Devon website and see the offers available (depending on your circumstances).
At the same time, the Cosy Devon scheme will offer sound advice on energy efficiency and benefits entitlement to help to reduce the amount of money spent on energy and to maximise household income.
