The Council has produced a range of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) and Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) dealing in detail with specific sites or topics which are published alongside the Local Plan and emerging Local Development Framework. SPG and SPD is intended to provide detailed guidance and advice to developers, landowners and others on the implementation of the Council’s development plan policies.
SPG and SPD is taken into account as a material planning consideration when applications are being considered.
The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act has replaced SPG with SPD. Existing SPGs will be saved for at least three years from the date of the Act (September 2004) but will eventually need to be replaced with SPD. These may contain policies which expand or supplement the policies in Development Plan Documents and may cover a range of issues both thematic and site specific.
The Council’s key SPG/SPD documents are listed below and can be viewed on-line by selecting the appropriate document.
