We encourage you to submit your planning application on line via the national Planning Portal. The Planning portal have created a ‘What to submit’ best practice guide to the types of plans required with planning applications, and how to mark them correctly.
Alternatively you can download the forms from the menu to the left and return the completed application to us by post.
Please make sure you have checked our validation checklists before submitting your application. If you do not send all the information we need, your application will be deemed invalid.
A design and access statement is required with most planning applications and all listed building consent applications. Please refer to our

Location plans - Every planning application needs a plan showing the location and boundaries of the site you are going to work on:
You can use the Planning Portal's 'Buy a Plan' service to ensure that you meet our requirements, whether you are a planning professional or first-time applicant.

Site location plans can also be obtained from:
Promap - the Planning Administration at South Hams District Council by contacting 01803 861122 or directly through Promap by registering on their website.
There is a charge for obtaining site location plans through any of these services.
Usually for an application in an urban area a plan at a scale of 1:1250 is required and in rural areas 1:2500. Block plans at 1:500 and other scales may also be available.
Please remember you may also need to contact the Building Control Partnership as building regulatiions may be required for any works you wish to carry out.

Building Control - Making an Application - Forms and Fees
Applications can be made for Full Plans Submissions, Building Notices and Regularisations. You can post your application to us, deliver it by hand or submit it electronically. Please note from 1st April, all applications should be submitted to our Newton Abbot Office with any cheques being made payable to Teignbridge District Council.
Online plans submissions - Devon Building Control Partnership through BC Forms enabling customers to submit Building Regulations Applications on-line.
This service is free and works with all CAD applications. It will eliminate the need to send multiple paper plans and is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
