People with disabilities
If you, or someone who lives with you, needs a separate room, or an extra bathroom or kitchen, or extra space in your property, to meet special needs arising from a disability, you may be entitled to a reduction in your Council Tax. If you qualify, the amount due will be reduced by one Council Tax band. For example, if your property is shown as Band D in the Valuation List, you will be billed for Council Tax based on a Band C valuation. If your property is already in band A it will be reduced by one sixth. These reductions ensure that disabled people do not pay more tax on account of extra space being needed because of a disability.

Council Tax benefit
Not everyone has to pay the full amount of Council Tax. Under some circumstances you may be eligible for a reduction or, if you have a very low income and limited capital, you may receive a full rebate.
If you think that you, or perhaps a friend or relative may be paying too much, then contact us immediately for further advice and assistance. Alternatively please go to our benefit pages.
Council Tax `Second Adult Rebate
Second adult rebate may be awarded to the person liable to pay the Council Tax where their home is shared by another adult(s) on a non-commercial basis. The rebate will be calculated using the income of the second adult(s). To qualify, the second adult must be aged 18 or over, must not be the partner of the liable person and must not pay rent to the liable person for living in the property. For example, a second adult could be an adult child or an elderly relative.
