Certain people will not be counted when assessing the number of resident adults, including those adults who are either a youth training trainee or an apprentice. For the purposes of Council Tax a youth training trainee must be:
- under the age of 25,
- undertaking training on an approved training scheme.
An apprentice must be:
- employed for the purposes of learning a trade, business profession, office employment or vocation,
- undertaking a programme of training leading to a relevant qualification,
- in receipt of a salary or allowance substantially less than the salary he/she would be likely to receive if he/she had achieved the qualification in question and in any case, not more than £195 (gross) per week (or £160 per week prior to 1st April 2007).
