Using the information on this page you can work out the maximum that we might pay you in Benefit. This figure may be adjusted based on your means to pay.
Broad Rental Market Areas:
This splits the South Hams Area in two. To find out which area the post code of your property falls in, give us a ring on Totnes (01803) 861234 and ask for the Benefits Section.
Room ‘size’ criteria:
Please note, single claimants under 25 and single joint tenants who only have exclusive use of one room will normally only receive the ‘shared room rate’. This is not the case in all occasions, so if you feel that you are in this category or are not sure, please give us a ring on Totnes (01803) 861234 and ask for the Benefits Section where we will be pleased to help.
You can work out the number of bedrooms your Local Housing Allowance will be based upon. We will look at who lives in your household as follows:
Allocate yourself one bedroom for:
- every adult couple
- any other adult, aged 16 or over
- any two children, aged under 16, of the same sex
- any two children, regardless of sex, aged under 10
- any other child
Any person included in your household calculation must be normally resident in the property and can only be counted against one claim.
Click on the link below to see the Local Housing Allowance rates. Whilst they may change each month, you will receive payment based on the month of your claim.
