The exact amount of Housing Benefit you will receive on any property may be ‘restricted’
or less than the actual rent you are required to pay. This could be because the property is larger than
the size of your family needs or that the rent is more than the general rent for similar properties
in the area.
If you want to know what rent Housing Benefit might be able to cover for a property
you can apply for a Pre-Tenancy Determination. This is dealt with by the Rent Office Service and the
