There are two ways of submitting an official Local Land Charges search, manually via the normal postal system or electronically via the Internet using the National Land Information Service (NLIS). For information on NLIS please follow this link.
The information below is aimed at postal searches, we are only able to recieve Electronic searches through either the NLIS or TM Searches portals. However we can email you your postal search response upon request, at no additional cost, just note your email address on the search forms.
- To process a postal search, we require a copy of the appropriate forms i.e LLC1 and CON29R forms (CON29O form is optional), two plans and the appropriate fee. We are not able to supply the legal forms but these are available from any HMO stationers. If you have a solicitor or licensed conveyancer they will normally undertake the Local Land Charges search on your behalf.
- LLC1 only searches should include a completed LLC1 form, two copies of the plan and the appropriate fee.
- Please ensure the cheque is made payable to South Hams District Council and signed.
- Please ensure that the correct fee is enclosed. For information on fees please follow this link.
- Please ensure suitable plans are enclosed with your search, preferably 1:1250 or 1: 2500 scale, with the boundary of the property clearly marked in red edging. Unsuitable plans will be rejected. We do not accept block plans for search purposes.
- Please clearly identify any roads referred to in Boxes B and/or C on the Con29R form. Failure to do so may result in additional enquiries to Devon County Council after you have received the search result, which will incur an additional fee.
- Please ensure the correct return address is recorded on the search forms so that we can send the search back. Alternatively if you prefer we are able to email your search result to you at no additional cost, just note your email address on the search forms.
