There are two ways of submitting a Local Land Charges search, manually or electronically via the Internet using the National Land Information Service (NLIS). The information below is mainly aimed at manual searches. Using NLIS removes the need for paper and cheques.
- To process a manual search, we require duplicate copies of the appropriate forms, three plans and the appropriate fee. We are not able to supply the forms. If you have a solicitor or licensed conveyancer they will normally undertake the Local Land Charges search on your behalf.
- LLC1 only searches should include 2 x LLC1, three plans and the appropriate fee.
- Please ensure the cheque is made payable to South Hams District Council and signed.
- Please ensure that the correct fee is enclosed.
- Please ensure suitable plans are enclosed with your search, preferably 1:1250 or 1: 2500 scale
- Please clearly identify the property to be searched on the plan and any roads referred to in Boxes B and/or C on the Con29R form. Failure to do so may result in additional enquiries to Devon County Council after you have received the saearch result, which will incur an additional fee.
- Please ensure the correct return address is recorded on the search forms so that we can send the search back.
