We frequently get asked if we keep details of who owns a tree. The Council keeps records of land within its own ownership, but we do not keep details of land in private ownership.

If you need to find out who owns a tree, you could try the following:-

Devon County Council – hold details of land in County Council ownership. They can be contacted on 01392 382000 or at www.devon.gov.uk
Speak to the Clerk for your local Parish Council as local knowledge is always a good source of information. Please click on Parish Clerk for details.
Plymouth District Land Registry hold records of all land which has been registered. You may obtain copies of the Official Register & Title Plan from them for a small fee. For further details please contact:-

The starting place for this sort of information would be the deeds of your property which may show you which boundaries you are responsible for.
