We are conscious that one of the biggest threats to the underwater world of the estuary is ignorance – ignorance of what’s down there and an ignorance of its needs – but being out of sight, we do recognise that it will not cross many peoples’ minds, just how rich the underwater world is here in Salcombe!
In the past we’ve brought you this world through newspaper and magazine articles, illustrated talks and guided walks, but now we’re making the Salcombe version of the Blue Planet, and underwater film about the wildlife found in the depths and shallows of the estuary.
We think you’ll be rather amazed at the colour, variety and forms found here – everything from corals to elusive seahorses, from cuttlefish to feather-stars. This wonderful underwater community and our community’s dependence upon it, is being filmed by volunteer divers, but is very dependent on the weather, so no guarantees when it will be available in the shops!
