Councils have a statutory requirement under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 to produce an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) by 31st December of each year. This years AMR covers the period 1st April 2005 to 31st March 2006 and contains information on:
- progress in the preparation of Local Development Documents against the timetable and milestones in the Local Development Scheme (LDS)
- the extent to which policies in the 1996 Adopted South Hams Local Plan are being achieved
- housing
- economy
- accessible services (including transport)
- the environment.
South Hams District Council is one of the leading authorities nationally in advancing its LDF. During this period the Council made good progress - only one target date was not met.
The report also presents an account of existing 'saved' policies form the Adopted Local Plan. It also presents an analysis of LDF Monitoring Indicators that includes the national core indicators and a series of local indicators to monitor the implementation of the Council's emerging LDF Core Strategy.
