Kingsbridge & Salcombe Area Partnership (KSAP) launched their Community Action Plan – Action 2020 - in Dec 2003 following numerous public meetings, public surveys and consultation with other organisations.
Through the community consultation eight important issues were identified and themed groups were established to research the issues in more depth and to prepare detailed action plans. The eight issues were:
- Affordable Housing.
- Economy & Jobs.
- Environment.
- Health and Social Issues.
- Redevelopment of Kingsbridge Quay.
- Sport.
- Transport
- Youth
Current Key Projects
CENTRE FOR THE COMMUNITY (as part of the regeneration of the Quay)
SALTSTONE CARING which will provide initially a befriending and later additional services to the older, isolated and vulnerable members of the community within the entire extensive hinterland of our parishes
BUSINESS RELOCATION schemes to develop and improve local businesses and provide increased work opportunities for, particularly, young people wishing to remain in the area
IMPROVED CHILDCARE FACILITIES generally via a Children’s Centre and specifically increased pre-school provision
A COMMUNITY DESIGN/BUILD ADVENTURE PLAY AREA which will not only benefit its end users but will hopefully offer opportunities for targeted sectors of the community to become involved
KSAP is also actively committed to numerous environmental issues surrounding their greatest natural resource – the Estuary - including improvements to Whitestrand, Salcombe, and the development of affordable housing sites to encourage the local population to remain in the area and be part of its future.
