One overarching partnership. One set of plans to deliver...
The Connect Partnership brings together key stakeholders from the community and voluntary sectors and public sector organisations to work together to address issues of shared concern and improve options for local people.
Research showed that both South Hams and West Devon were facing similar issues in their communities and by joining together to create one Connect Partnership, there would be a stronger influence on the priorities and resource decisions of partner organisations, increasing opportunities for improving local communities.
Formal approval to proceed with the Connect Partnership was given by both Councils in December 2010.
What does the Connect Partnership do?
The Connect Strategy for South Hams and West Devon sets the direction for the Connect Partnership and highlights the four priorities for action which were set based on evidence of local need and have been adopted by South Hams and West Devon Councils.
These are:
• Community Life
• Economy
• Environment
• Homes
Each of these priorities will have a Delivery Plan which sets out the actions to be taken by the local authority and partner organisations to address challenges within the priority area.
The Delivery Teams for each priority are made up of key partners and stakeholders who work together to develop the Delivery Plans and to ensure that there is effective community engagement in the development process.
The Partnership Board comprises key representatives from:
• South Hams District Council & West Devon Borough Council
• Devon and Cornwall Police
• Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service
• Dartmoor National Park Authority
• Devon County Council
• NHS Devon
• Environment Agency
• Community & Voluntary Services Representatives
• 2x Community Representatives
• Business Community Representative
Its role is to work together strategically to deliver the Connect Strategy and the four Priority Delivery Plans.
