Under powers introduced under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act, it is possible to have nuisance high hedges reduced in height.
The powers cover two or more evergreen trees or shrubs which cause nuisance to neighbours – and anyone aggrieved by such a hedgerow can make a complaint to the District Council.
The powers came into effect on June 1st 2005 and the council will be able to levy a charge of £320.00 (estimated cost by the government) for dealing with any complaints after this date.
