Award Winning Beaches in the South Hams

The following beaches have all won awards from the ENCAMS group.  

Blue Flag Awards

The Blue Flag is an internationally acknowledged award which recognises sound environmental management.  Blue Flag beaches must have excellent bathing water quality and well managed land-based facilities.  There are currently three Blue Flag beaches in the South Hams:

• Bigbury on Sea
• Challaborogh
• Blackpool Sands

Seaside Rural Beach Awards

Only awarded to beaches that are clean, safe well managed and have water quality that meets European legislation

• Salcombe South Sands
• Salcombe North Sands
• Thurlestone
• Bantham
• Hope Cove
• Torcross

These beaches are some of the most beautiful, safest, cleanest and best managed beaches you'll find anywhere.
