Customer Service Team
offers more choice and flexibility for council customers

South Hams District Council has officially launched its new Customer Services Team in a move to provide more choice and flexibility for customers.

The new Customer Services team will look after all visitors to Follaton House reception as well as providing cash office facilities. The team will also deal with customer calls for a number of council services. The council website, which provides information and services 24 hours a day, is also under the management of the new team.

This new Customer Service approach means:

  • A consistent level of service, delivered by professional customer service advisors over the full range of council services
  • More calls dealt with by a single individual the first time you call
  • Extended opening hours at Follaton House for visitors and callers
  • Increased access to council services over our enhanced website

The Customer Service Team also offers customers more flexibility to call or visit the council with the extension of our opening hours.

The new extended hours of business are now 08:00 – 17:00
Monday to Friday

Cllr Nicky Barnes, Executive member with responsibility for accessible services at South Hams District Council said:

“Our customers’ needs are critical to the way in which the council shapes its services for the future. Due to feedback, we are changing the way that we deal with our customers, by introducing a dedicated team staffed by customer service professionals.

“The change to a Customer Services approach will enable the council to be more efficient in how we deliver services, providing better value for our customers. We will continue to further develop our service through on-going consultation with customers to monitor their changing priorities.”

The Customer Services Team will enable better management of customer queries & will help the council plan for the future. Over the next 3 years the Customer Service Team will expand to take all frontline customer service calls for the whole district.
