A Voice for the Community
An innovative project which aims to put the people of South Hams at the heart of all Council decisions is being developed over the coming months.
The Voice Project will break new ground in the way that residents can help to design services that the Council provides.
The new initiative aims to empower communities to influence the work of the Council and will focus on three areas:
•Shaping the overall direction of the authority
•Shaping services
•Shaping local areas
The Council is setting out clear routes for you to give your views and say what you would like to see happening in your area whether you are, for example, an individual with a concern about dog fouling in your local park, or a community group keen to influence planning policies or a Parish Council wanting to design street cleaning services in your parish.
At a time when Council resources are being squeezed ever tighter, the Council needs to make sure that the services it’s delivering and the actions it’s taking meet the needs of all communities – both now and in the future.
