The Policy Development Groups were set up to;
- assist the Council and the Executive in the development of its budget and policy framework by in-depth analysis of current provision, performance and policy issues.
- undertake all preparatory work in the development of policy including involvement of members of the Executive, members of other bodies.
- review and scrutinise the performance of other public bodies in the area.
There are three policy development groups with the following remit:-
Community – securing safe, clean and healthy communities;
Environment – maintaining and enhancing the quality of the environment;
Prosperity – enhancing the prosperity of businesses, communities and individuals.
There are 8 Members from all political groups on the Council on each group.
