Council Meetings

How Often Do They Meet?

So as to ensure that decisions are taken with the minimum of delay, meetings of the Executive and Development Control Committee are held every four weeks. The Council itself meets every six weeks. Potentially Scrutiny could meet every four weeks if they regularly "called-in" decisions of the Executive. All other groups meet on an as and when required basis although they will normally have at least four meetings each per year.

Full details of Council meetings can be checked in our Calendar of Meetings.

Can the Public Attend?

The public can attend any of the meetings of the Council and its bodies. Some items, however, are deemed as "exempt" and during discussion of any items so identified, the public and press will be requested to leave the meeting.

At meetings of the Executive, members of the public may ask questions of the meeting and receive an answer.

There is an opportunity for public to ask Questions to the Executive
