The register was previously updated once a year in October, but The Representation of the People Acts 2000 and The Representation of the People Regulations 2001 now allow people to register to vote at any time under “rolling registration”.
After the new register is published on 1st December, if you move or your name is not included, you can apply to have your name added by completing an
Application to be registered form.
Below is a table showing the dates for the current year. The "last day for applications" is the latest date by which we need to receive your completed form in order to be included in the next revision. Alongside this column is the "publication date for register"; this is the date from which your name will then appear on the register.
Please note: During election periods, if your registration form is received 11 working days before polling day, and no objection is made, you will be eligible to vote in that election. However, your details will only be published on the Electoral Register from the beginning of the month following polling day.
There is no monthly update during September, October or November during the annual canvass period when all households have to register. A new register is published on 1st December.
