The Council has adopted a Corporate Equality Scheme, which details our equality commitments and objectives in relation to the following equality strands:
- Race
- Age
- Gender
- Disability
- Religion & belief, and
- Sexual orientation
The scheme sets out what you can expect from the Council in terms of service provision, policy setting and our employment practices. We want to offer the same high level of service to all people and will take measures to ensure that we are not unlawfully discriminating against any particular groups. We will also be working to promote equality of opportunity and working to promote good community relations.
We will now be working hard to ensure that the scheme is embedded across the organisation and that the actions identified within the Action Plan are completed within the agreed timescales. Implementation of the scheme will, over time, result in real outcomes for our residents, service users and staff.
