South Hams Proposals Map

By reading the following Licence Agreement I agree to be bound by the terms and conditions for access to National and/or Authority datasets.

The Proposals Map shows the location and boundaries of adopted policies and proposals contained in the Development Plan, including areas to which a specific policy applies or areas identified for development.

The adopted Proposals Map reflects the most up-to-date spatial plan for the district outside of the Dartmoor National Park and is revised when new policies and proposals are adopted.

The Proposal Map currently consists of policies and proposals from the adopted Local Development Framework documents, namely the Core Strategy and the Sherford New Community Area Action Plan, together with  those that have been ‘saved’ from the adopted Local Plan 1996. It lists all of the policies and proposals under the appropriate Development Plan.

The Schedule of Adopted Plans and Saved Policies details the current adopted policies and explains which are shown on the Proposals Map.

The adopted Proposals Map is available in an interactive online map to enable it to be easily updated when new policies and proposals are adopted. The Proposals Map was last updated in October 2009 to take into account the emerging Development Policies DPD.

Using the interactive Proposals Map

The interactive web based mapping service allows you to view planning policies over-laid on an OS map. You can search for addresses by entering a post code or street name and view details of the planning policy information for that property or location.

The service allows users to move around the maps and policy layers of planning information. It contains up to date information on planning policies and proposals for the South Hams, outside of the Dartmoor National Park. For more information on using the interactive map click on the ‘help’ link.

These plans contain the Council’s policies and proposals for the development and use of land and set out the criteria against which planning applications for development and the use of land and buildings are considered.

The interactive map is a service which continues to be developed. Responsibility will not be taken for any errors or omissions in the maps that are caused by technical problems. Furthermore, the information contained within this Proposals Map does not constitute in any way a formal or informal planning permission, and as such any actions taken based upon information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer’s own risk.
