The Rural Areas document will set out the approach to address the key social, economic and environmental issues facing the rural areas of the district, particularly housing and employment allocations. The Council published a Rural Areas Development Plan Document (DPD) - Issues and Options Report in July 2007 which was available for comment over a nine week period.

How can I view a copy of the Rural Areas Issues and Options Report?
The Rural Areas DPD is available on this website by using the links above. This document is also available for public inspection at the Council offices, Follaton House, Totnes on Monday–Thursday 08:30–17:00 and Friday 08:30–16:30 and at the local libraries within the district.

What happens next?
The Council is currently preparing the Preferred Options stage of the Rural Areas DPD. The Preferred Options document will build on the issues and options report and the response to it.
