The Council has produced a range of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) dealing in detail with specific sites or topics alongside the LDF/Local Plan and emerging Local Development Framework. SPD and SPG is intended to provide detailed guidance and advice to developers, landowners and others on the implementation of the Council’s development plan policies.
SPD and SPG is taken into account as a material planning consideration when applications are being considered. They may contain policies which expand or supplement the policies in the Development Plan and may cover a range of issues both thematic and site specific.
The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act has replaced SPG with SPD. Existing SPGs will be saved until they are replaced by SPD.
The Council’s key SPD/SPG documents are listed below and can be viewed on-line by selecting the appropriate document.
