Site inspections are usually held ten days after the Development Control Committee. The function of the Site Inspection Group is to make a recommendation normally to the next Development Control Committee. Anyone attending the inspection will then have the opportunity to write to the Chief Environment & Development Officer with their views, which will be made available to the Committee before it decides upon the matter. It is therefore important that these are sent as soon as possible after the Site Inspection.
Whether the site inspection is made by the full Committee or a selected group of Councillors, a decision will not be made on the day, instead a recommendation is made to the next Development Control Committee. This is due to it felt being inappropriate to make any decision on site and allows any Member, who may not have been able to attend the site inspection, but may have undertaken such an inspection in their own time, to have an input into the final decision. The Development Control Committee will be provided with all the relevant and up to date information relating to that particular application before it makes a decision.
